The VHS Theatre Board met on November 13, 2024, to discuss important updates and plans for the upcoming play Sherlock Holmes and the First Baker Street Irregular.
Chicago Production Recap: The Chicago production was a significant achievement, featuring four performances, including a special preview for students and teachers and three general admission events. The addition of a live band elevated the experience to a professional level.
**The Saturday night performance was recorded by a videographer for our Heller Awards submission and we will share details soon on video distribution as soon as we have them.
Upcoming Play: Sherlock Holmes and the First Baker Street Irregular
Show Dates: January 23 at 7 PM, January 24 at 7 PM, and January 25 at 2 PM.
The board emphasized the importance of promoting the show, given its three performances and family-friendly nature. To engage younger attendees, the board discussed including props like magnifying glasses and offering a special backstage tour.
Merchandise: T-shirts will be available for pre-order only and will not be sold at the show. There will also be a silent auction. More information will be shared soon.
Fundraising: The fundraising team continues to reach out for donations and corporate sponsorships. The student-led fundraising campaign closes on November 18. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to students, parents, grandparents, family members, and friends for their contributions.
ThesCon: Students will head to Grapevine, Texas, on November 20 for the annual Texas Thespians State Festival.
Annual Theatre Banquet: The banquet will be held at Vintage Villas on May 14, with tickets available on the Ludus website starting in early April.
Financial Planning: The board discussed moving reserves into a high-yield savings account to maximize funds, emphasizing the importance of maintaining compliance with non-profit regulations. The group agreed and plans to hold a formal vote soon.
